From July 8 to 11, 2025, the Institut international des coopératives Alphonse-et-Dorimène-Desjardins (IICADD) will host the Global Research Conference of the International Cooperative Alliance in Montreal.
The conference’s central theme - Intercooperation For Our Common Feature - emphasizes the importance of intercooperation in creating transformative change for justice, sustainability, and prosperity. This topic is particularly relevant as 2025 will mark the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives.
In addition to offering a significant discussion platform on the role of cooperatives in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, the conference will strengthen the global movement for cooperatives thanks to engaging sessions, inspiring content and meaningful networking opportunities.
The call for papers is now open
Researchers interested in presenting a paper or a panel can explore the various research streams, with themes such as: sustainable agri-food systems, circular economy, decolonizing the economy, governance systems and practices, governance and diversity, cooperative law, research with cooperatives, ethics, incarceration and co-op Solutions, innovation through inter-cooperation, the institutional and legal framework of the cooperative and social economy sector, the future of co-op education and development, opportunities and challenges for financial cooperatives, renewable energy communities, reporting on co-operative sustainability, principle 7 and concern for the community, as well as worker coops’ power for communing futures.

Young Scholars and Early Career Researchers’ Workshop
A one-day workshop will be organized for ICA CCR Young & Emerging Scholars (YES) the day before the conference. This event, designed for Masters, PhD, post-doctoral students and early researchers in institutions, is a great opportunity to meet peers and gain new skills and insightful knowledge in the field.
